H2O Wireless Prepaid Plans

H2O Wireless is a relatively small prepaid GSM wireless carrier that operates on AT&,T Mobility’s 3G networks. Added to that, it outsources many of its services to independent dealers and contractors. It offers terrific rates and nationwide coverage, but its cellular services are limited by 3G speeds. The big benefit to H2O Wireless, however, is that it does a great job catering to people with lots of international friends.

Standout Features

  • Terrific International Rates / Plans
  • Compatibility With Unlocked Smartphones
  • Zero Pesky Fees
Monthly Plans

H2O Wireless provides a slew of plans catered to both those who just need voice/text and those who also need data. Its most basic plan costs only $30/month and offers unlimited talk and text. Note that this plan offers zero international support, meaning you must pay standard international rates for all calls and texts directed outside of the United States.

  • $30/month |Unlimited Talk And Text
  • $40/month | Unlimited Talk And Text, 100MB Data, $20 International Talk
  • $50/month | Unlimited Talk And Text, 500MB Data, $40 International Talk
  • $60/month | Unlimited Talk And Text, 2GB Data, $20 International Talk

The bottom three plans also come with unlimited international texting. If you have a lot of international friends, your best bet would be the third one. It includes free international calling to 50 countries.

H2O Wireless also offers some special plans for those individuals who just need broadband access. The broadband is limited to 3G speeds, but for $50/month, you get access to 50 hours of Web access and 1GB of data. Or if you are a frequent traveler, you can get 10MB of data in 120 select countries for only $30/month, which is an exceptionally good rate.

There is one last WiFi service to mention. It’s known as the H2O Bolt. It requires you to purchase a special USB adapter for $100, but after that, you get unlimited Internet access at 4G speeds for just $50/month. Realistically, though, unless you travel a lot, you’d be better off investing in conventional broadband Internet.

Usage Based Plans

H2O Wireless offers four usage-based plans priced at $10, $20, $30 and $100. All four plans price individual services as follows:

  • Talk | $.05/minute
  • Text | $.05
  • Data | $.30/MB
  • MMS: $.10
  • International: $0.05/minute

However, the expiration days go from 30 to 60, 90 and eventually 1 year. Plus, they each offer a certain # of free minutes: 200, 400, 600 and 2000, respectively.

Features

H2O Wireless offers call forwarding and three-way calling, but only on pay-as-you-go plans. However, in case you run out of talk time, texts or data with your monthly plan, you can purchase what’,s known as a ‘,Feature Card’, from certain retailers. They entitle you to $10 worth of services charged at hefty rates of $0.15 for all messages and $0.15 for each MB of data.

Fees

There are thankfully no extraneous fees associated with H2O Wireless, meaning no activation fees and no sales taxes. You pay exactly what you sign up to pay.

Phone Selection

One neat thing about this company is that it allows you to use any unlocked smartphone, so long as it contains a SIM card. It’s also compatible with all AT&,T phones. H2O Wireless also offers a nice selection of phones on its website. Included is the iPhone 3GS, the Motorola Brave, the Motorola Flipside, the HTC Status and the ZTE F160.

Help &, Support

H2O Wireless offers 7 days of phone and chat support. Or if you want, you may submit an email using a form on its website.

Summary

Overall, H2O Wireless isn’t the best brand for those seeking ultra-fast connectivity speeds. However, if you’re a frequent traveler or you like dealing with unlocked smartphones, this could potentially be the best brand out there for you.
