Rinse out the carafe and fill it with clean, cold water, then pour it in the reservoir on top of your Cuisinart coffeemaker. Place the carafe securely in its holder, you don't want it off-center or you'll end up mopping up overflowing coffee.
Swing open the filter basket on the top and front of the appliance by pulling on the basket handle, then drop a clean filter in it. Add 2 level tbsps. of fresh coffee for each cup of water in the reservoir. To brew eight cups, add 16 level tbsps. of coffee to the filter.
Get the Brew StartedShut the filter basket completely. If the basket is partially open or swings open during brewing, you are going to have a messy countertop when the brew basket overflows and spills coffee and wet coffee grounds.
Press the "On" button, and a red light will turn on to let you know the brew cycle is under way. If your Cuisinart has a pause feature, you can pour a cup of coffee during the brewing cycle. A spring-loaded mechanism over the carafe temporarily blocks the flow of brewing coffee so you can remove the carafe and enjoy a cup. Replace the carafe as soon as you have poured a cup, because water continues to build up in the brewing basket and can overflow if the carafe is not replaced within 30 seconds.
Enjoy Your Cuisinart CoffeeA beeping sound will alert you when the Cuisinart has finished brewing a pot. The coffeemaker will automatically switch from brewing to the warming cycle, and it will shut off after two hours. Wait until the coffeemaker has cooled before removing the spent grounds and used filter.
If you live in an area with high mineral content in your drinking water supply, clean the Cuisnart about once a month by adding two cups of vinegar to the carafe, topping it off with cold water, then pouring the full carafe into the reservoir and running a normal brew cycle. Discard the brewed water/vinegar mix, then run two more brew cycles with cold water. This will keep your Cuisinart brewing clean-tasting coffee for years.
