Barclay Resin Tub Care
Barclay resin soaker tubs are cast in a joint-free mold using a polyester-aluminum trihydrate blend material that hardens to a solid surface. Resin’s non-porous surface naturally resists stains, scratches and discoloring. Sometimes referred to as “man-made stone”, its extreme durability helps to preserve its silky matte finish. This versatile material also allows more freedom of design since it can be cast into countless shapes and forms.
Care and Maintenance
Clean water will remove most dirt from your resin tub. Use only mild cleansers that are safe for painted surfaces when necessary. Do not use abrasives, acids or ammonia. Wipe dry after each use to retain original beauty.
Small Scratch Repair:
If a minor scratch should occur, rinse any dirt from surface with clean water and rub in small circular motions using #800 grit sandpaper until scratch disappears. Follow with #1200 sandpaper to smooth area. Dry with a soft towel and finish by polishing with automobile polish.
Barclay Acrylic Tub Care
Barclay acrylic soaking tubs are a fiberglass reinforced polyester, finished inside with a durable sheet of acrylic. The rough fiber glass exterior is coated with an epoxy paint in either white or bisque to match the interior. Our new double acrylic tubs boast 2 sheets of acrylic wrapped around a durable fiber glass core for a sleek finish inside and out. All acrylic tubs are protected by a thin sheet of film during shipment. Vacuum molded acrylic claw foot tubs are a light-weight, economic alternative for those who do not have the structural requirement for a cast iron tub.
Care and Maintenance
The non-porous surface of an acrylic tub makes it very easy to keep clean. For routine cleaning you may use a non-abrasive soap. Dish washing detergent such as Joy®,, Palmolive®,, Ivory®,, etc and a soft sponge or cloth is all that you need. If an accident occurs that requires something stronger, the following are SAFE to use: Fantastic®,, Tackle®,, Top Job®,, Formula 409®,, ScrubFree®,, Calgon Bath®,, Windex®,, Clorox Bleach®,, Spiffits®, Bath, Glass Plus®,, and Spic &, Span Powder®,. DO NOT Clean Your Acrylic Bathtub with Paint Thinner, Goof OFF®,, Scrubbing Bubbles®,, Acetone, Lacquer Thinner, M.E.K. ®, or other chemicals that attack the structural integrity of plastics (including, but not limited to, acetones). Use of these chemicals will destroy the acrylic surface of your bathtub and there is no way to reverse the damage caused by this type of chemical reaction. Use of these chemicals will void your warranty. It is simple to restore the finish of your tub, should scratches or dulling occur. We recommend the use of a liquid polisher such as Gel-Gloss®,. Deep scratches or burns can be removed with very fine sandpaper (600 grit or higher) and then finished with a liquid polish.
Barclay Copper Tub Care
Barclay copper tubs are made from 16 gauge or lower copper sheet. Due to the handcrafted nature of their product, there will be some variation in size, hammering and finish. Copper finish is a living finish and will patina over time. Barclay Satin Nickel tubs are fashioned from copper with a pewter (also referred to as Satin Nickel) finish and will not patina under normal circumstances.
Care and Maintenance
To prevent water spotting wipe dry with a soft cloth after each use. Do not use copper or silver cleaners or any abrasive or harsh chemicals such as ammonia, acid, bleach, etc. Wash tub with mild soap and water and wipe dry with a soft cloth. Occasionally apply beeswax to maintain rustic finish. Polishing with Olive Oil when needed will enrich the patina over time.
