In the last two years I have worn out 8 (Korean) KUMHO Solus KR21 225/70/R16 tires in normal commuter driving on the paved streets and highways in and around Tucson, Az. Though KUMHO rates them at "85,000 miles I've never exceeded 20-25K miles before completely wearing out the tread, ". Though the manufacturer has allowed a pro-rated allowance towards replacement, I am disappointed that this road failure is apparently the norm. I spoke to JESSICA at KUMHO's Warrantee Dept. and she explains that "I can expect to receive 80,000 miles from the tire when driving in Florida", but can't enlarge as to why they consistently fail in Southern Arizona. Nor could she supply any information as to whether other customers had encountered the same problem. Her lack of professionalism and interest in servicing the customer over the phone was very evident, also.
As with almost every tire (in this price range), there are many pros & cons to these Kumho tires.
Tread wear is AWEFUL! I had these rotated twice a year for the 2 years that I've had them and after just 22,000 miles, they're pretty much shot.
I realize that typically to have high performance sport tires, you usually have to give up some tread wear lifespan. But 22K is just a little ridiculous.
