Fireplace Xtrordinair Newcomer to fireplace brand landscape undergoes extensive overhaul

Travis Industries in Kirkland. WA bought the rights to an uninteresting EPA-tested wood fireplace in 1992, and in the intervening years have tweaked its design and function to include several new models and styles. Fireplace Xtrordinair was officially born when Travis bought that original model, and now the brand has spun off into six wood fireplace lines and 32 gas fireplaces. Wood fireplace and wood insert lines are labeled Classic Arch and Artisan, while gas fireplace and gas insert lines are segmented into Classic Arch, Metropolitan, Artisan, Architectural, Bed &, Breakfast, Custom Builder and Revolution.

Fireplace Xtrordinair boasts many new advances in fireplace safety and efficiency, and on the whole its products are received well by consumers. In fact, its "Ember Fyre" gas burner won an award in 2001 by Popular Science magazine as one of the best 100 new ideas—for its ability to mimic real fire color and flicker.
