What is the most important information I should know about Iverhart Max: Iverhart Max is a prescription medication available as chewable tablets in four strengths for dogs of different weights. Iverhart Max is packaged in boxes of 6 tablets and 12 tablets each tablet individually foil wrapped. It is important for the pet to consume the entire tablet. Iverhart Max should be used in dogs at least 8 weeks of age and no weight requirements. Iverhart Max is for use in dogs only.

What is Iverhart Max: Ivermectin is an anthelminthic (dewormer) used for the prevention of heartworm disease in dogs. Pyrantel pamoate is used for treating and controlling roundworms and hookworms in dogs. Praziquantel is used for treating and controlling tapeworms. It is recommended that heartworm prevention is used year round.

What should I discuss with my veterinarian before giving Iverhart Max to my pet: Tell your veterinarian if your pet has ever had an allergic reaction to the medication or any of it's individual ingredients.

How should this medication be given: Use with caution, Collies and other herding dog breeds have been known to have adverse reactions to invermectin administered at elevated dose levels. Give Iverhart Max exactly as directed by the veterinarian. If you do not understand the directions ask the pharmacist or veterinarian to explain them to you. The usual dose of Iverhart Max in toy dogs 6 to 12 pounds is 34mcg/28.5mg/28.5mg (Magenta), for small dogs 12.1 to 25 pounds is 68mcg/57mg/57mg (Blue), for medium dogs 25.1 to 50 pounds is 136mcg/114mg/114mg (Green) and for large dogs 50.1 to 100 pounds is 272mcg/228mg/228mg (Brown). For dogs over 100 pounds the appropriate combination of strengths is used. Remove only one tablet at a time from the foil backed blister card. Iverhart Max can be given as a treat by hand or mixed with a small amount of food. Store the remainder in the original box they came in to protect from light. Store Iverhart Max at room temperature. Keep this medication out of the reach of children and pets. In addition, the safe use of this drug has not been evaluated in pregnant or lactating bitches.

What happens if I miss giving a dose: Give the missed dose as soon as you remember. Do not give a double dose of the medication.

What happens if I overdose the pet: Seek emergency veterinary medical treatment. Symptoms of overdose may include vomiting, diarrhea and incoordination.

What should I avoid while giving Iverhart Max to my pet: If the dog has not taken heartworm preventative for 6 months or less, start the medication and test for heartworms after 6 months since microfilaria, that take 6 months to mature, will result in a positive heartworm test result. Because humans can contract hookworm and tapeworm from animals, it is important to maintain good personal hygiene. It is also important to eliminate fleas on the pet and in the household and to not feed the pet rodents. To prevent reinfection, daily cleanup of stools is recommended.

What are the possible side effects of Iverhart Max: Side effects of Iverhart Max are rare but may include lethargy, limpness, salivation, shaking, diarrhea, decreased appetite, licking lips and belching.

What other drugs will affect Iverhart Max: Do not give Iverhart Max to your pet if already taking an alternate heartworm medication.
