AARP Encourages Brain Health with Launch of AARP Brain Fitness powered by BrainHQ

Americans 50+ Are Concerned About Brain Health, Mental Acuity, Looking for Brain Fitness Exercises Online

Washington, DC – Today, AARP announced the launch of AARP Brain Fitness powered by BrainHQ as part of an overall brain health initiative.

Keeping your brain healthy is the key to staying sharp throughout life and keeping your brain fit, engaged and active now can help you maintain mental alertness in the future.

AARP’s holistic approach to brain health is rooted in five pillars: eating smart, being fit, working your mind, socializing and stressing less. AARP Brain Fitness powered by BrainHQ offers great ways to work and engage your mind.

“AARP Brain Fitness powered by BrainHQ is aimed at helping people think faster, focus better and remember more,” said Deb Abernathy, director for Brain Health at AARP. “This is just one of many ways for Americans to think about brain health and working their minds in an engaging and fun way.”

Research shows that AARP members and Americans 50 and older are worried about losing mental capacity. In fact, AARP found that staying mentally sharp is a top concern among AARP members. Confronting these concerns by offering brain fitness exercises online is a great way for people to engage in their own brain health.

“While many people want to take steps to stay sharp, they don’t know what they can do that actually works,” said Dr. Henry Mahncke, CEO of Posit Science. “We are very excited about working with AARP Brain Fitness to offer these exercises.”

Abernathy concluded, “Just like a physical workout session, brain fitness exercise is just one aspect of holistic brain health. AARP is excited to offer more ways for Americans to address their own brain health as they age.”

AARP Brain Fitness powered by BrainHQ offers exercises to focus your attention, increase your brain speed, improve your memory, enhance your people skills and sharpen your intelligence. Visitors to brain.aarp.org can try four free brain exercises powered by BrainHQ and AARP members can unlock more exercises at a discounted rate.
