Harlem Furniture Credit Card

Harlem Furniture Credit Card

Updated: March 25, 2014

One of the Comenity Bank product offered to the market is the Harlem Furniture credit card. Also known as the RoomPlace credit card, the Harlem furniture credit card is a special kind of credit card for buying furniture from the Room Place furniture stores that spread in Chicago, U.S.

There are various financing options offered with conditions, from no minimum purchase required. The credit card will help you to finance furniture for up to 5 years. Of course, there are some terms and conditions. The “up to 5 years” of financing is only eligible for the most expensive purchases you buy.

Details of the Harlem Furniture Credit Card Financing Options:

With no minimum purchase, you have two options which include 6 months of financing with 0% interest and 18 months of financing with 10.99% APR. These two do not have down payment requirement.

With a $1500 worth of minimum purchase, you are eligible for a 12 months of financing with 0% interest, 24 month of financing with 10.99% APR, and 39 months of financing with 10.99% APR. All three options are available without down payment requirement.

With a $2000 worth of minimum purchase, you are eligible for a 48 months of financing with 10.99% APR. The 5 years of financing can be gained only after your purchase price is $3000 or above. These last two options require you to have a 10% down payment.

Now here is the catch. Although the 0% interest rate might sound wonderful to you, you should absolutely stay away from the offer. I’m talking about the 6 months financing with 0% APR and the 12 months of financing with 0% APR.

People who don’t bother to read the card application form about that 0% terms and condition will likely fall for this offer. The reason why you should avoid them is that the 0% offer from the harlem furniture credit card is different from a regular credit cards.

To make things short, allow us to summarize it for you. Unless you are able to pay the whole price in the 6 months (or 12 months for the other option), we would not recommend you to use the offer. If you failed to pay the full price in the agreed time limit, you will have to pay the whole interest rate back to day one. Moreover, the APR you get is ridiculous. Failing to pay the full price in 6 or 12 months means that you are facing 24.99% APR to 28.99% APR.

If you were planning to use the Harlem furniture credit card. it would be wise to check your credit score first. Make sure you have a healthy credit score of at least 600. When you do have the credit card, don’t choose the 0% interest rate offer. Instead, go for the other options available. The 10.99% APR is a reasonable APR. If your credit score were really healthy, we’d recommend you to go for the regular credit card from the bank instead.
