Hankook Optimo H426 Tire Review - Rating

Hankook Optimo H426 Tire Review &, Rating

Used mainly as original equipment on a wide array of Hyundai vehicles, the Optimo H426 provides all-season performance and handling on other coupes and sedans as well.

An all-season tread compound combined with a symmetric tread design and independent tread blocks enhance dry traction and cornering performance. It also increases steering response and provides added feel.

Four circumferential grooves and lateral curved grooves add to wet traction and handling. This tire is also designed to improve handling in light snow, which you can read more about in our overall thoughts on this model.

Inside the tire there are two steel belts with a nylon reinforcement that adds more strength and stability to the tire. A polyester cord body enhances ride comfort. Hankook includes a 60,000 mile tread guarantee on this model.

  • Good dry handling and grip
  • Steering response and feel
  • Ride comfort
  • Value priced and has a 60,000 mile warranty
  • Treadlife could be better
  • Winter traction and handling
  • Tire is noisy for many drivers

Overall Thoughts

The Optimo H426 has some good things going for it, but at the same time it has its share of faults. Yes, the tire provides good handling and grip on dry road surfaces, and the ride is comfortable. Better still is the relative low price, making it a budget friendly replacement tire.

On the other hand, there are some issues that hold this tire back. Far too many drivers have complained about poor treadlife and how noisy the tire is. In addition, winter traction on even the lightest dusting of snow has been problematic based on feedback. That said, for those living in areas that do not see much of any snow, this tire may be alright. There is also a 60,000 mile tread warranty included to help with treadlife issues. Overall, you might want to check out the H727, as it is a tremendous performer in all areas.
