The origin of most modern wood stoves designs can be traced to the 'Scandinavian' baffle pass design - originally found in Jotul stoves. These earlier 'high efficiency' stoves were the benchmark for stove design in the '70s, during the first oil crunch!

By the late 80's, EPA requirements for cleaner air brought newer, even more efficient designs! The technological advances and breakthroughs over the next decade (and into the new century) have made the use of wood burning stoves more practical and mainstream.

Jotul has continued to pioneer advances in woodstove technology while competitors were often distracted other fuel efforts (or grills, etc.). The results have been dramatic! Jotul is better positioned with an elegant, state-of-the-art line, and has enjoyed the results.

Jotul F118 Black Bear. Direct descendant of the famous Jotul 118 - one of the driving forces of the stove revolution of the '70s. Long log length and and original styling are respected and preserved in this EPA certified version of the original 118.

Jotul TL50 Rangely. Top loaders rejoice! This top and front load hybrid steel/cast iron design is very powerful. There's an optional drop in grill if you want to make your steaks inside your stove.

Jotul F45 Greenville. The newest edition to the Jotul wood line-up. Slightly smaller than the F55, but with the same great burn times and steel/cast construction.
