March 2, 2010 Weil McLain Boilers: Troubleshooting Made Easy

Weil-McLain boiler troubleshooting is not any different than troubleshooting any other brand of boiler system. Weil-McLain boilers are some of the most popular and reliable boilers on the market today. Weil-McLain is a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of gas- and oil-fired hot water and steam boilers for space heating in residential, commercial and institutional buildings.

The Weil-McLain furnace is also very popular in the forced air heating market. Like any other manufacturer, you will need to understand how a boiler system works before you can properly troubleshoot problems with your system. Thankfully, if trouble does occur, Weil-McLain repair is very comparable in terms of cost to the other manufacturers on the marketplace today.

A hydronic heating system (also referred to as a boiler system) works in the same way as a forced air system but instead of heated air moving through the house, heated water goes through pipes. This necessitates certain parts be connected to the boiler. You will have a water supply line, a furnace, fuel line, an expansion tank and circulator pumps among the core connections to the boiler. Additionally, you will be able to control the temperature in different zones of the house which requires a thermostat and zone valve in each separate heating zone.

Key things to look and listen for when troubleshooting your boiler system are loud pipes or water near the pressure release valves. These are signs that there is either too much air or water pressure in your system. If you have too much air pressure in the system, access the bleeder valve to allow the air to escape the system. If water is escaping the pressure release valve you should probably contact a professional to fully troubleshoot and fix the problem as leaving this type of issue unattended can lead to catastrophic failure of your boiler system
