For Sale on AutoTrader: Bumblebee Camaros

The third installment in the Transformers series opens this week. and while some die hard fans may wait in line for a midnight showing, see the movie multiple times, or come to the theater dressed as their favorite Autobot or Decepticon, you can trump them all by showing up in your own personal Transformer. And you can find it for sale right now on AutoTrader.com .

OK, so the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro Transformers Special Edition isn't exactly a real Transformer. It won't morph into a robot, and it certainly can't drive itself or speak. But even the biggest Transformers fans will notice only academic differences between one of the limited-production, Rally Yellow Camaro coupes and the automotive form of Bumblebee in the hugely popular movie series.

Launched in July 2009 to commemorate the Camaro's appearance in the first two Transformers movies, the 2010 Camaro Transformers Special Edition features fender-mounted Autobot shield badges, Autobot insignia in the wheel caps and center console, "Transformers" inner door sills and special black racing stripes on the hood. According to Chevrolet, demand for the movie-themed Camaro motivated the automaker to put it into production.

"When the first Transformers movie was setting box office records, we had countless customers asking to purchase the 'Bumblebee' Camaro," said Karen Rafferty, Chevrolet's product marketing director, upon the model's release. "Now, they can buy one with the new Camaro Transformers Special Edition. Streets all over North America will be buzzing in no time."

Offered as a $995 option package on the 2010 Camaro LT and SS, the Transformers Special Edition was available with either the six- or eight-cylinder engine, and manual or automatic transmission. Patient buyers can wait until September, when a similar package featuring black wheels and a rear spoiler debuts for 2012. but if you're looking to cause a stir at the debut of Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon. we suggest checking out one of the 20-plus 2010 models currently listed on AutoTrader.com.
