Connecting a non-AT&T provided router to your AT&T Internet connection

Configuring a router to work with your AT&T DSL modem involves a few basic steps, as shown below. If you need more specific instructions for your router, visit the manufacturer's website.

Important - before proceeding
  • Print these instructions.
  • Have your router's setup/user guide available.
  • Have your AT&T DSL Network username and password available. Your username is your primary AT&T email address (e.g. username@att.net), however, your network password is different than your email password. If you don't know your network password, learn how to reset it .
Now, let's get started The following steps will vary by router manufacturer
  1. Open a Web browser and access the router's User Interface. according to the manufacturer's instructions. This is typically done by entering the router's IP address, like 192.168.1.254. into your browser's address bar.
  2. Within the router's User Interface, select Internet Connection type PPPoE .
  3. Enter your DSL Network Username and Password. and Save your settings.

Your username is the same as your primary AT&T Email address (e.g. username@att.net). If you don't know your DSL Network password, learn how to reset it .

Congratulations, you should now be connected to the Internet!
