I have had this item for over 10 years, and have changed countless motorcycle tires on it. There are better machines out there, but you will pay 5-6 times the price. If you are not careful it will scratch a rime, but there are some preventative steps to avoid that:

2. Use plenty of lube. (I use a dish soap/water solution)

3. Get a better mount/demount bar. (No-Mar or Coats)

4. When using the bead breaker, put a rag under the rim to avoid scratching the rim. Use a 2X4 under the far side of the rim to avoid bending a brake rotor.

I get about 3000 miles out of a set of tires, and when I was racing, I would mount 2 sets of tires each month at a minimum. So in 10 years this thing has been well used. I have always said I would buck up and replace it with a No-Mar when I wear it out. but I still have yet to wear it out, or even show signs that it will wear out anytime soon!
