Napoleon Fireplaces

Napoleon Fireplaces By Mark Nolan from Wisonsin on October 28, 2012

I have a Napoleon model NZ26 fireplace with a blower and variable speed switch. The manual doesn't show any information on its use. I have the speed switch all the way on, but the blower does not come on. The fire in the fireplace has been going for almost two hours but all we have is a fire and no blower activity.

Is there something to explain what is going on? The wall switch is on and the draft is wide open. I can feel the heat radiating from the fireplace, but no blower.

Unfortunately, it sounds as if the speed control or the thermal switch that is responsible for activating the blower has failed. Depending on how old the unit is, these parts may be covered under warranty.

To know which part is at fault, you will need to use a volt meter to determine if voltage is being fed into and out of the speed switch. If there is voltage being fed to the thermal sensor from the speed control, the sensor is bad. Otherwise, the speed control has failed.
