Most companies develop a product or service, and then identify customers to sell to. At GMI we started with the customer first through an extensive effort combining customer interview research, years of industry experience, and a desire to do things better. Next we spent countless hours creating a service offering to provide solutions to your facility challenges. It was during this process that we discovered proprietary methods to address a variety of our customer's issues, so we designed our entire service suite based upon an approach that integrates the best practices across the board.
Guard Management, Inc. was established in San Diego, CA in 1982, by Murray Abrams who established a well-known building services company, GMI Building Services, Inc. GMI Security (as it was originally known) quickly adopted its sister company's Continuous Quality Improvement principles and affirmed working partnerships with several new clients. In 1992, the security firm was acquired by Murray 's son Larry Abrams and incorporated as Guard Management, Inc. Starting with a single client and a handful of security officers, Guard Management Inc. has emerged as one of San Diego 's most innovative and dependable security firms with over 850 full time employees. Today GMI's ownership is made up of four shareholders most of whom had previously worked with national providers. As owners, we understand the level of service that we provide can only be attained by local ownership and management.
