Choose Sunbrella fabric for your custom cushions, throw pillows and more, and your investment is guaranteed to last through many seasons of use.

Benefits of Sunbrella Cushions

Sunbrella is the premier choice for outdoor cushions, and it's easy to see why:

  • Hundreds of beautiful fabrics to choose from
  • Water-repellent fabric does not absorb water
  • Designed to quickly air dry
  • Resistant to mildew
  • Solution-dyed acrylic
  • Warranty against fading and stretching for 5 to 10 years
What makes Sunbrella cushions perform so well?

Sunbrella fabric is ideal for cushions because of how it's made. The acrylic fibers are dyed during the manufacturing process, meaning each thread of fabric is dyed, rather than a "color coating" being added to the fabric post-production. This solution dyeing process is the key to locking in color, easy cleaning and long life. An inherent characteristic of acrylic fiber is that it will not support the growth of mildew as a natural fiber will.

In addition, during the finishing process, a water-repellant finish is applied to the fabric. Sunbrella fabrics will not absorb water and are designed to air dry very quickly, usually within a matter of minutes.

Maintaining your Sunbrella cushions

It is important that you clean your Sunbrella outdoor cushions regularly to maintain their highest performance.

  • Mildew can grow on any surface that is dirty, so to keep your Sunbrella cushions from mildewing, you must keep your fabrics clean. If mildew growth becomes a problem, you can clean your Sunbrella cushions with a bleach and water solution. Please refer to our care and cleaning instructions.
  • Normal wear and usage will reduce the effectiveness of the water-repellant finish, as will cleaning the fabric. We suggest that after Sunbrella fabrics are cleaned, and if they remain exposed to the elements constantly, that you re-treat your Sunbrella cushions with a water-repellent treatment.
  • Sunbrella fabric is water-resistant, but not waterproof. The water-resistant finish will not keep your Sunbrella cushions from getting wet. Cushions or pillows should be drained by standing the cushions on their edge and allowing the water to drain from the zipper area. Depending on the temperature and conditions, the cushions will dry in a couple of hours.
  • Do not machine wash or machine dry your Sunbrella fabric, this will often overheat and shrink the fabric. Most stains can be cleaned and removed using the spot-clean method, using a clean damp rag, and a bit of dishwashing liquid.
  • When ordering your Sunbrella cushions, be sure choose an outdoor filling type to ensure the longevity and performance of your investment.
Sunbrella cushion fill types

Depending on your Sunbrella cushion selection, your cushions can be filled with CumuPlush, foam or a mixture of both.

Standard Outdoor &mdash, CumuPlush

CumuPlush is layered polyester designed for outdoor Sunbrella cushions, but may also be used indoors, of course. It resists mildew and does not retain water. CumuPlush is also used to make "loose fill" types, including poly bun and direct fill, which are used primarily for outdoor throw pillows, and plush fill, a blend sometimes used for back cushions.

Premium Outdoor &mdash, CumuPlush + Batting

This filling is recommended for outdoor applications and may also be used indoors. CumuPlush is a special layered blend of dry conjugate fiber and densified polyfiber designed to not retain water and resist mildew. Batting is added to the top and bottom of the CumuPlush to give the cushion an elegant, rounded look. Thickness measurements are taken seam to seam. This fill choice will create an additional 1" to 2" loft on both sides of your cushion.

Standard Indoor &mdash, Foam

Foam is polyurethane dense upholstery fill type designed primarily for indoor cushions and holds its shape longer than CumuPlush.

Premium Indoor &mdash, Foam + Batting

Premium Indoor fill combines the firmness of foam with the softness of CumuPlush. Because the foam will retain water, this fill type is for indoors only.

Optimal Comfort

Cushion Source®,'s exclusively developed 5-star fill type, Optimal Comfort combines foam, batting and Memory Foam, all wrapped in a superior water-resistant liner from Hanes.
